KATHMANDU, Dec 4: Dec. 4: Nepal Trilogy, a book that amalgamates poetry and photography about some of the world-famous trekking destinations in the Nepal Himalayas, has been launched Sunday.
The 800-pages anthology is a photographic and poetic journey through the areas of Annapurna, the Everest, Helambu and Langtang. The poems in the book have been written by noted poet and translator Yuyutsu RD Sharma and the photographs are by award-winning German photographer, Andreas Stimm.
German Ambassador to Nepal, Verena Grafin von Roedern inaugurated the pictorial poetry book amidst a function at Nepal Tourism Board.
In her inaugural remarks, the German ambassador said the book catches the spirit of the people and the culture of some of the world-famous trekking destinations in the Nepal Himalayas through the medium of poetry and photography.
So, the Nepal Trilogy will help promote Nepal, its culture and natural beauty to the outside world through a perfect combination of literature and photography, she added. She also suggested the Nepalis to visit different places in their own country and help promote tourism.
Ambassador Roedern, moreover, underlined the need of political stability for the promotion of tourism in the country.
The author of the book, Yuyutsu RD Sharma and photographer Stimm spoke on how the Nepal Trilogy came about and how a poet and a photographer decided to work together combining two forms of art. They also shared their experience of working together in this venture.
Poet Sharma read out two poems from the Trilogy. The German translations of these poems were also read out. Noted litterateurs, literature-lovers and media people, among others, attended the function.
The book-launching programme was organized by White Lotus Book Shop in collaboration with Nepal Tourism Board and Epsilonmedia, Germany.
